Location Visibility & Access Models
TruckCharge Connect supports four different visibility and access models for charging locations. Each model defines who can see your site, who can charge, and how access is controlled.
Choosing the right model depends on how you want to share your charging infrastructure.

Private Location
A private location is fully restricted to your organization.
Key characteristics:
- Not visible in charging apps or public maps
- Charging is intended for your own fleet
- External access is only possible if physically and technically enabled
- Authentication is required (no anonymous charging)
- Can use a 0 EUR tariff for internal charging
- Supports selective monetisation (e.g. via vouchers)
Best suited for:
- Depots where charging is an internal operational asset
- Sites with strict access control requirements
Semi-Private Location
A semi-private location is visible within the TruckCharge Network, but access requires your approval.
Key characteristics:
- Visible to all TruckCharge Network members
- Fleets must request access before charging
- You approve or reject access requests
- Only approved fleets can charge
- Full control over who can use your site
Best suited for:
- Partner charging
- Controlled collaboration between fleets
- Sites with limited capacity
Semi-Public Location
A semi-public location is open to all members of the TruckCharge Network without approval.
Key characteristics:
- Visible to all TruckCharge Network users
- No approval required within the network
- Only TruckCharge Network participants can charge
- No access for external roaming networks
- Authentication limited to supported network methods
Best suited for:
- Sharing excess capacity within a trusted ecosystem
- Network-based collaboration without manual access management
Public Location
A public location is fully open and accessible to all drivers.
Key characteristics:
- Visible in public charging apps and maps
- Accessible via roaming (third-party eMSPs)
- Supports ad-hoc payment (e.g. AFIR requirements)
- Open to all drivers with valid payment/authentication
- Subject to full regulatory requirements (e.g. AFIR)
Best suited for:
- Commercial charging operations
- Public infrastructure
- Revenue-generating charging sites

Depending on the country, additional national regulations may also apply. As part of the TruckCharge Network, Spirii provides you with guidance and advisory on AFIR compliance.
However, the responsibility for ensuring compliance ultimately remains with you as the charge point owner.
