Creating Locations for your charge points

To have a fully functional charge point, you first need to define its Location.
The location functions as the container for all information regarding the venue of the charge boxes incl. charge points, map points, tariffs, charge records, opening hours, etc.

How to create locations?

For a quick tour of the Location creation page, follow the below introduction:

Users with the Charge Point Operator (CPO)-role will have access to create locations directly in Connect. In the left menu bar, click Locations, then on the + icon in the top right corner.

This will open the new location creation flow:

1. Set up the Owner Details:

1. If you are signed in as a system admin and you are creating a location for another entity, you will need to select the Operator.

   

2. If you are logged in as a CPO, you need to select a Customer or create a new one, by clicking the Add new customer in the dropdown menu.

   

   We are currently only supporting the creation of Business customers in Connect. If you wish to create a private customer, you need to use the Business Portal.

   

   Note: If there is an agreement involving financial services between Spirii and the Operator responsible for the location, when creating a customer, the user will need to add the billing and payment information as well as a contact person.

   💰 If the customer's selected country is Denmark, the IBAN and Swift code change to Bank Reg and Account Number.

   

After creating the customer, you will be able to see it in the field.

⚠️ Note: As of now, the customers are not editable in Connect. If the user wishes to edit or view the Customer, he/she can do that only in the Business Portal. The plan is to expose customer information and make them editable soon.

2. Add Location details:

Input the Location name and select the Location type. Be mindful: The location name will be displayed in the app for the app users.

⚠️ Note: If the user is creating a private location and selecting location type ‘residential’, the tariff section will be removed (residential locations don’t need tariffs).
When selecting ‘Residential’ it will also be possible to select whether or not the customer owner should be able to view the charger in the app.

4. Select or create a Financial agreement.

Financial agreements are optional contracts that define the parts as well as fees and rates charged for charging sessions at specific locations.

1. If the user has already created finacial agreements, previously called ‘agreements’, in Business Portal, he/she can select them in the dropdown. 
   
   
    
2. If the user hasn’t created an agreement before, or doesn’t have one that fits the scenario, he/she can create a new agreement directly in Connect.
   

Note: Selecting agreement type ‘Company car’ If the user is creating a private location and selecting location type ‘residential’, the tariff section will be removed (residential locations don’t need tariffs).

5. Add Tariffs.

Tariffs are the prices that users (drivers) pay, per kWh or minutes, to charge at this location. 

In order for a location to be operational, it needs to have 2 tariffs. A standard one and a legacy one. The legacy tariff is mandatory and used by users with older versions of the charging apps.

All operators have a default tariff with price and currency. If the user doesn’t select any standard tariff, the default one will be allocated to the location. 

Note: Currently, tariff creation is not supported in the location service. If you wish to create a tariff, go to the Tariffs page in Connect. 

After you have successfully filled all the sections, just click on ‘Create’ button and you will be redirected to your new location page.
