This guide will teach you how to create a new chargebox on a location in Connect.
1. Charger configuration
Make sure the charger is Spirii-whitelisted. If in doubt about the whitelisting has already been done, your assigned Solution Rollout Manager or Key Account Manager can help you at Spirii.
When charger has been whitelisted:
- Obtain the relevant manual from the manufacturer of the charger.
- Choose an installation spot with good internet access for the particular model of the charger; 3G/4G, WIFI, or Ethernet depending on the capabilities of the charger.
- Install the charger electrically according to the manufacturer's manual and local regulations/legislation.
- Configure the charger using manufacturers guidelines and make sure to set up the following:
- APN: onomondo (If a Spirii SIM card is being used):
- OCPP version: 1.6J.
- OCPP Endpoint (TLS): wss://connect.spirii.app (port 443).
- OCPP Endpoint (insecure): ws://connect.spirii.app (port 80).
- OCPP CBID: Use a self-generated unique ID following the EMI3 syntax. Your Rollout Manager at Spirii can help you if in doubt.
- APN: onomondo (If a Spirii SIM card is being used):
2A. Activation of chargers in Spirii Connect for operators (with admin user rights)
Step 1: Location creation
- Create your location: Creating Locations for your charge points.
- In Spirii Connect, navigate to the location you want to add a charger.
Step 2: Installation details
- On the first tab Overview, click on the edit button and make sure to update the installation details:
- Enter the fuse capacity of the installation into the Main fuse capacity field.
- Make a note of the ground resistance in the Internal notes field (should be <100Ohm to prevent errors).
- Click Save at the bottom of the page.
Step 3: Charge boxes
- Navigate to the Charge boxes tab.
- Click the Create charge box (+ icon).
- Select the Charger Type from the drop-down. If you can’t find your specific model, choose Other.
- Insert the serial number (most hardware manufacturers will have this printed directly on the charger).
- Input Charge Box Identity (CBID) if needed, depending on your hardware.
- Optionally, bind the charger to a load management Circuit. This can also be done later. See article: Power management with Dynamic Load Balancing.
- Click Create.
If the charger is properly configured and connected to the internet, it should connect to the backend within 5-10 minutes. Some chargers may need to be rebooted to retry the connection. Once the charger is connected and a BootNotification is received, the Vendor, Model, and Firmware fields as well as the Connectors will be auto-populated:
If the charger is not connected within 10 minutes of creation, please follow the troubleshooting steps at the bottom of this article.
2B. Activation of chargers in Spirii Connect for installation partners (without admin user rights)

Once the charger is connected and a BootNotification is received, the Vendor, Model, and Firmware fields as well as the Connectors will be auto-populated:
Moving or recreating chargers
If you need to move a charge box from one location to another, or recreate a previously deleted charger with the same CBID, this can be done with the soft delete functionality.
Delete the charge box from the previous location using the delete icon in the charge box table and recreate it at the new location.
💡 What happens to the CDRs and history?
The change log history and all charge detail records (CDRs) on the charge box will
remain attached to the previous location.
The recreated charge box will function as a fresh installation
with a cleared history at the new location.
⚠️ Note: This is not available for Zaptec chargers that aren’t connected via OCPP.
Troubleshooting
If the charger is not connected within 10 minutes of creation, please follow these steps:
- Reboot the charger (turn off the power, wait 15 seconds, and turn it back on).
- Check the internet connection of the charger - usually found within the manufacturer app or configuration panel. If it is not connected, either choose an alternative connection method or try a SIM card from another provider.
- Check the OCPP configuration of the charger. The OCPP identity of the charger must match the charge box identity entered in Spirii Connect.
- Document configuration (screenshots) and send an e-mail to: noc@spirii.com.
Make sure to include:- Hardware and firmware version if available
- ID (alternatively address or order ID)
- Any other observations of relevance
- Call Spirii NOC (weekdays 8 am – 5 pm) at +4532268002 if immediate assistance is required.
