Setting the tariff (legacy) for your charge points

This article will teach you how to use the platform's pricing function and set the tariff (legacy) for all your charge points.

We have recently upgraded our tariffs to provide more dynamic and flexible pricing options. They are developed according to the OCPI framework to allow communication with international partners. However, we still support our legacy tariffs written in an older format. These will only kick in if a driver uses an older version of the Spirii Go or a similar app developed by Spirii that does not support OCPI.

Introduction

The "Tariffs" menu is where you can define the price, currency, unit, and conditions for charging on your charge point.

After you create a tariff, you can apply it to 1 or more of your managed locations.

Fixed vs. Dynamic tariff types

Tariffs can be defined as "fixed" or "dynamic." A fixed tariff applies a fixed kWh price, set by the user, to a charge point. A dynamic tariff follows the fluctuations of the market, thus changing on an hourly basis.

 

Creating a Tariff

In Spirii Connect, navigate to the Tariffs menu

1. Click Add New Tariff on the top right corner
2. Set Customer if you are creating the tariff on behalf of one of your customers
   • Alternatively select “All Customers” if you want the tariff to be shared across multiple customers’ locations.
3. Give the tariff a fitting Name (e.g. “Public DC charging price”)
4. Add an optional comment to note something about the tariff to yourself or others
5. Mark “Set default price” if you want all new locations to have this tariff added by default. ⚠️ Any previously selected default tariff will no longer be the default.
6. Decide whether you want a Fixed or Dynamic (spot price based) price
   • Fixed:
     • Select Price per kWh. The end-user will always be charged this price.
     • Choose Currency
   • Dynamic:
     • Choose Currency
     • Set your Markup (your revenue and costs you always want to add on top of the raw spot price). You can choose either a percentage add on or a fixed amount - or both. In case of both, the percentage will be calculated first.
     • Choose your Minimum price. This is the price (incl. VAT) your end-user will always pay, even if the spot price goes below this amount. It will also be used as fallback price in case the hourly price data for some reason was not available.
     • You can see a graph, a price example and the historic prices to your right for visualization of how the tariff will be calculated. Select your country and electricity zone to see a forecast of the next 24 hours data.
7. Click Create.

 

Applying a Tariff to your location(s)

In order for the Tariff to take effect, you need to apply it to any relevant locations:

1. Navigate to the Location via the Menu.
2. Once you select the location, click the Edit button in the top right corner.
3. Scroll down to the Tariff field and select the appropriate tariff from the dropdown menu (Tariff dropdown).
4. Click Save.

The tariff is now applied, and will be displayed to all end-users in the Spirii Go app.
