A charge key is used to activate a charging session instead of using the Spirii Go app.
In addition to an increased user experience, this also eases the billing management as all registered charge sessions are stored with the card. Based on this, Spirii can issue monthly billing for the total charging instead of individual transactions. If the charge key is added to an app user, and a credit card is connected to the key, the billing will happen over the chosen payment method in the app.
In Spirii, we operate with 2 kinds of charge keys:
- Physical RFID cards.
- Virtual charge keys which are stored as a payment option in the app.
Assigning and managing physical RFID cards
Physical RFID keys can be assigned to a specific app user by:
- Navigating to the App User via the menu in Connect - locate your app user
- In the charge keys list, find your charge key to bind
Going forward, a physical RFID should be registered by the user in Spirii Go with a connection to a credit card. This ensures that the payment method chosen by the customer in the app is used. This way, when the user utilizes the RFID card to initiate a charging session, the transaction can be connected to the credit card.
If the charge key is not added to the customers app user, the customer will receive a monthly invoice for the billing of the customers usage on the public network.
Managing a group of RFID cards:
If your business case consists of managing multiple cards for a shared fleet, this can be setup via the groups function in Spirii Connect:
- Go to Charge Keys via the menu
- Click View Groups in the top right corner
- Click Add New Group
- Specify the name (and the customer if you are managing the group on behalf of another customer)
- Click Save
- Go to Locations tab and bind specific locations, if the charge keys should be able to activate specific charge points that are closed off to others.
- Go to Charge Keys tab
- Find the charge key number in the list and bind each card to the list
- Make sure the keys are Active (can be edited on each charge key)
- Your key-holders are now able to charge using the charge keys
Currently, Spirii is responsible for enabling charge keys in the list for the partner to select from.
