This document goes into more detail about how you can reconcile your charging revenues and how you can use the specification file or exports from Connect to perform more granular reporting of revenues. Use this document as a guide to understanding and working with the data provided by the Spirii Platform.
The Specification File
Alongside your self-billing invoice, you receive a specification file related to your self-billing invoice. The file contains all charging records, which can be verified by comparing it to an export from Connect for the same time period.
| 🚀Please note that self-billing is based on when charging sessions end. In some cases, sessions may be included later if data is received with delay (e.g. due to connectivity issues). This may result in minor differences between this file and data exported from Connect. |
Â
Fields and dimensions
The Specification File is designed to be lightweight and focus only on the data which is crucial for reconciliation and financial reporting. For more in-depth analysis of your charging business, please export CDRs from the Charge Records page in Connect: Exporting data for further analysis.
The Specification File is based on the same CDRs as you see in Connect and contains a subset of the information to make it easier to work with. Please reach out to finance@spirii.com if you have need for additional data in the specification file.
Â
Reconciling the self-billing
Since the Specification file contains all the CDRs on your sites for the given period, you need to filter in the data to see only the CDRs that should be considered.
To reconcile the self-billing document with the specification file, please
- Filter the file using the isIncluded column. This field uniquely describes which CDRs are included in the self-billing.
- Sum up the priceExVat if you are self-billing with reverse charge VAT.
This number matches with the total on the invoice.
To understand the revenue excluded from self-billing, look at the excludedReason column. This column contains, for every single individual charging record, the reason for why this revenue is not included in the self billing from Spirii.
Â
Analysing the excluded revenue
The excludedReason column in the specification file contains the reason for exclusion. These reasons are outlined in your contract with Spirii. You can use this column to get a deeper understanding of the revenue not paid out from Spirii. Read more about this here: Explaining the exclude reasons for reconciliation
Â
More granular reporting
For more granular reporting than what is provided in the Self-Billing document, you can use the Specification File to report on revenue per e.g. Location, Country, City, Customer etc. As long as you filter on the isIncluded column, you can use the specification file to report on revenue more granular than what is displayed in the document.
For analytics or business intelligence, we refer to the CDR exports from Connect as they will contain more fields to analyse your charging business on.
