Why have you reserved an amount on my account? There is still an amount reserved even though I have finished charging β why? When will the reservation be removed?
Like many other charging companies, we reserve an amount on your account every time you start a charge on the public charging network. The reservation is a temporary security to ensure that there is coverage for the charging.
The reservation is not a final charge, and the amount is released again when the charging is completed and the payment has been processed.
Why is a reservation made? π°
When you start a charge, we do not know the exact price in advance, as it depends on, for example:
- How long you charge
- How much electricity is delivered
- The price at the particular charging station
Therefore, a reservation is made so that the charging can proceed without interruptions.
This is standard practice in the charging industry and is also widely used in other industries β e.g. hotels, car rental and petrol stations.
How large is the reservation amount? πΆ
Fixed reservations
At many chargers, a fixed amount is still reserved, typically:
- 300 DKK / 50 β¬
The amount is reserved regardless of whether it concerns:
- Regular AC chargers (11/22 kW)
- Fast and rapid chargers (DC)
Adaptive reservations
At selected charging locations, we now use adaptive reservations. This means that the reservation amount:
- Is adjusted automatically
- Is based on the average consumption and price level at the particular charging location
The purpose is to:
- Avoid unnecessarily high reservations
- Provide a more accurate and customer-friendly experience
The final amount you pay always corresponds only to the actual charging β regardless of whether the reservation is fixed or adaptive.
When does the reservation disappear? πΈ
We complete all payment transactions as soon as the charging is finished. Afterwards, it depends on your bank or payment provider when the reservation disappears from your account.
This can vary from a few hours to several days.
MobilePay reservations π±
- Reservations via MobilePay can in some cases be visible for up to 30 days
- The reservation disappears automatically
- You do not need to take any action
Card payment (e.g. Mastercard) π³
When paying by card, the card issuer reserves the amount to ensure there is coverage. This means that:
- The charging itself may be completed and paid for
- The reservation may still temporarily appear on the account
This is controlled by the card issuer/bank, and the reservation:
- Is automatically cancelled
- Requires no action from you
MasterCard reservations
Reservations on MasterCard can in some cases be shown for a longer time. This is typically due to stricter security procedures at the card issuer.
The reservation is released automatically, and no action is required from you.
Can the reservation be removed faster? β‘οΈ
No, unfortunately.
Once the charging is completed, we have no way to influence how quickly your bank or payment provider releases the reservation.
If you want the reservation removed earlier, you must contact your bank. In most cases, however, this is not necessary as the reservation disappears automatically.
